Walt and I knew when Candy was born which male we wanted to use for her first litter. I had been "watching" Ch Bohem Just in Time ever since Nancy Doucette brought him to Florida from California when he was just 11 weeks old. Though I had never met Nancy or Justin in person, she and I had been in touch via internet since she began looking for her first whippet. And the more I heard about Justin's temperament and saw his results from the show ring, the more I was convinced that this dog was one we wanted to use in our breeding program.
Since for health reasons, we only use older males, it was a long wait. Candy was born in 2004, and as she matured, I knew we finally had the girl for Justin!
Their first litter was born March 16, 2007, and became, naturally, the St, Patrick's Day litter. Choosing which one to keep was not easy. This was a top quality litter, confirmed when I took them to Dr. Barbara Henderson (whose Ch Peperone Power Ranger was Candy's sire) to help me evaluate them. She went over them carefully wth me and finally agreed that Erin (now Chippy) would be the best choice to carry on here at Timbreblue.

Chippy is co-owned with Derek and Johannah now and lives in Irmo, South Carolina.
Shamrock, who is almost Chippy's twin, lives with Richard and Patti in Bound Brook, New Jersey (and Annapolis, Maryland), along with her whippet roommate, the much harrassed Emmaleigh.
Limerick (now Zephyr), moved to Wisconsin with her owners Rachel and Kevin and her best buddy, Lothar the dachshund. We suspect she has quite the wardrobe of winter coats.
Tara (now Sydney) was such a quiet little thing while she was here. Moving north apparently brought out her inner devil, and she keeps our friends Keith and Gina in Toms River, New Jersey, from ever being bored. She shares her home with one of our Diamond and Calvin puppies, Zowie, and I doubt Keith and Gina have told them, but their world is about to be rocked with Timbreblue whippet number three, joining them from Candy and Justin's 2008 litter.
Clover (now Jackie) needed a quieter life, she told us, so she stayed close to home and lives in Salem, Virginia, with her BFF Riley.
The boys from that litter are:
Smithwicks (now Bogart), who joined our pup Carly (from Diamond and Calvin's first litter) in her home with Lisa, Steve and the girls in Granite, Maryland. Lisa had no idea how "easy" Carly was till Bogart arrived!
Guinness (now Bailey), the sweetest and most easygoing of the boys while he was here, headed for Tulsa with his owners Peggy and Chris, where he is trying to talk them into getting him a buddy.
Duffy (now Nelson) fell in love with a boy named Alexander at our 2007 reunion and went to live with him and his parents, Maria and Julian, in Alexandria.
This was one of those litters we just couldn't get enough of, so we repeated the breeding a year and a half later and Justin and Candy presented us with another beautiful eight!
